About the Characters

Chaplain (Capt.) Mike Shellman
U.S. Army Special Forces
Mike Shellman has been deployed several times to both Afghanistan and Iraq. As a chaplain, he has encouraged his men that "With God, all things are possible--even in war" One of the more memorable events from his deployments was having embedded Fox News Reporter Geraldo Rivera assigned to his Humvee during the attack on Baghdad. Mike is proud of the men and women who have sacrificed so much for their country.

PO2 Russell Williams
U.S. Navy Submariner
As an acclaimed young classical pianist with a promising career ahead of him, Russell Williams chose to put those plans on hold in order to serve his country in the United States Navy. He has been active in the war on terror serving as an engineer aboard Nuclear Submarines. Russell says he has been challenged daily by the sacrifice and commitment of all those he is privileged to serve with.

Sgt. Kyle Smith
Former U.S. Army Ranger
Suffering 22 war wounds and witnessing the loss of three fellow Army Rangers in the second car bomb attack of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Kyle Smith knows the meaning of sacrifice. He encourages Americans to remember those who have died while demonstrating compassion for the people of Iraq and Afghanistan.

SFC Sally Kennedy
U.S. Army Intelligence
While assigned to Army Intelligence at the Pentagon, Sally Kennedy witnessed first hand the 9/11 terrorist attack on our nation's capital. As a reservist, she has been twice recalled to active duty and proudly serves her country. This dedicated wife, mother, and outstanding teacher shares some profound insights on U.S. military success in the Middle East.

Major Chris Hill
N.C. Army National Guard
Chris Hill and his wife Lori have both served in the National Guard for more than 22 years. Lori is currently finishing a year-long deployment to Iraq, while Chris is awaiting orders for deployment on her return. Despite the sacrifices they have made as the parents of two young boys, both are ready and willing to be used wherever needed and are proud to be part of "the greatest military in the world."

Sgt. Chad Elliot
USMC 3rd Expeditionary Force Recon
Following active duty service with the Marine Corps and returning to the comfort of civilian life, Chad Elliot re-enlisted as a result of the events of 9/11 and volunteered to go to the front lines. A part of the fighting force in Fallujah, Sgt. Elliot has proven himself a true American hero.
